Self-Publishing the e-book way

I've got very into e-books lately. Not only the reading but the publishing, yes, yes, I heard you, PUBLISHING, Who publishes these days, with book sales down to the lowest ebb (on the out going tide), well the answer, of course, is YOU DO. Self publishing is all the rage and with authors like Amanda Hocking and H.P.Mallory hitting six figure incomes for their initiative, my advise to any one out there with a novel burning to be written in their heads is, don't delay, make a name for yourself today, the SELF-PUBLISHING way.

The first step, obviously, is to actually write the novel, oh, yes, this is essential, don't groan, (I heard you). Once this step in completed (You can cheat, if you like, and write a short story). Find a good image editing program and mock up a sexy looking cover to adorn your masterpiece. Now the fun begins, sign up for an online account at smashwords.com (I don't think they are trying to be funny with their choice of domain name), read their publishing guide (yes you do have to, else, your manual may well be rejected with nasty unacceptable messages scrawled across your inbox.), and upload your cover image and your book (in *.doc or *.rtf, I'm not swearing, check microsoft word for these formats), and volia, babe, you're in business. You can set a price for your slog from 0.99c (American), to, well the sky is the limit, and apart from the fact that the American Government (caplital letters intentional), will cream 30% off your sales for tax on royalities, the web-site, will do you proud, by paying you up to 85% of your sales. (I promise).

NOW Amazon.com is a little trickery. Register for an account, read their publishing guides (YES THEY HAVE THEM TO), and upload your book. Here, you will need to wait for. the powers that be to approve your work, before they distribute it, LIKE, internationally (TOTALLY AWESOME(I stole that expression from my nephew (promise), he says it all the time so it must be, LIKE WICKED, hey))). Before you disregard this post as, (JUST SO MUCH RUBBISH), wait.....

I did it, and, oh yes my short stories are out there to be read, downloaded, (AND REVIEWED (did you hear me)). It seems to work, as a totally unkown author over 150 people downloaded AND read my story in 4 days (I WAS BURSTING WITH PRIDE, ask my family (who had to read it over, and over, and over.. well you get my drift.... again, and again). YES well, if you've got some talent, and I know you have because you are reading this post, give it a try, you never know do you. RANDOM HOUSE (biggest worldwide publishers (as if you didn't know)... HERE I COME. LOL.
